A Big Catch Up Post

So it's been awhile since I last wrote (or typed depending on how you look at it...) and so much has happened worth writing (typing haha) about!
First of all I got my license!! Apparently I "just squeaked by" according to my driver tester or whatever you want to call him. In fact I believe he used to be one of those old gangsters that had one of those gangster accents but that might be just me. Anyways I got it and thats all that matters!!! Now the only thing left is getting a car! haha. That'll be the day....
Also, I went to Mexico in February for a week to go build a school down there. That was the most amazing experience I have ever had. Seriously. We traveled down there on a bus all the way from Saskatchewan, Canada to the Baja area in Mexico. Needless to say, it was an extremely long trip. We slept on the floors of the bus. Most people thought that was the best place to sleep.....I highly disagree. The one time I slept down there I was claustrophobic.
When we got to Mexico we went to this place called La Bufadora near Ensanada. It's an outdoor market where people barter for their items. I was the WORST at that. Eventually though I figured it out and I got a bracelet down to two dollars. I was very proud of myself :)
When we started building the school there were so many kids who wanted to play with us! I loved it! You had no idea what they were telling you but it was so great to see all their smiling faces. I made this one little friend named Pedro. He would run up to me and then I would make a crazy face and he'd run away laughing. It was so cute. Then I would do an action like waving my arms and he would copy me. I loved little Pedro. He was like a little ray of sunshine :)
We finished the school in 3 days which is crazy! It was a two classroom school. I swear I have never painted so much in my life! Every piece that went on that school had to be painted....twice. It was crazy. Anyways, in the end I had such a contented feeling about it all. It was so worth it.
After Mexico, we had a fun day in Disneyland on our way home!! I got to hug Pluto! That was defineately one of the happiest moments of my life! haha. I went on California Screamin too. Just so everyone knows, that's the biggest rollercoaster in Disneyland. It was amazing! I had such a good trip it's unbelievable. There are so many stories I could tell but this is all I'll leave you with for now :)
Oh! One more thing! I got a small job at our church. I'm what I would like to call a cleanliness technician or a custodian in other words....but hey! It gets me $100 each month....so it's something.

Happy 2011!

It's a new year!! It's a time for resolutions, party hats and appetizer-ish food.
My New Year's Eve was pretty eventful if I must say so myself....
There was a LOT of food. It was almost scary how much food I ate. First there was appetizers and I probably ate about 5 of these little hamburger pocket things. They were so good....you just can't stop eating them. Then at 12:00am they decided to have a midnight lunch! There was roast beef and ham and potato salad and oreo salad and all sorts of things that made my stomach pretty much explode. And if all that wasn't enough, at 1:00am they decided to bring out cake! Well that was pretty much all I could handle. Is it even possible for a person to explode? I was almost believing it that night.
Also, New Year's Eve was the first time I had alcohol. All the adults there were set on "christening" me. So they forced upon me a jello shooter. (They actually taste pretty good!) At first I was completely clueless on how to eat them. I mushed it all up, thinking it would be easier. That didn't work. The second time I had one was much easier. I also had a fruity drink. Small version though and that's when my mother cut me off.
I ended up having a pretty good New Year's! I wish everyone the best in 2011!!

The End of Summer

The camps have been gone to, the statuses have been updated, the skin has tanned, the ferris wheel has been ridden and the last rainbow twizzler of summer has been chewed. It's official, summer is ending and school is starting.
Tomorrow is the first day of grade 10! I'm so excited. I feel so senior-y! Technically it should be my first day of high school but I've been in the high school since grade 8 so that offer kind of lost it's charm for me. If someone were to ask me what I'm planning for after high school I would have no idea. (Journalism possibly?) I have no clue. I should probably have a clue but I don't. I'll have to do some serious looking about this year because next year I have to choose classes that actually go along with my career plans. MY CAREER PLANS?! Who said I wanted to grow up yet? Not me! But I have to.....eventually.

I got my Learner's!

I've kinda got some BIG news! I got my Learner's license! Wooohooo! Smiley
I went for a drive today with my dad ON THE HIGHWAY! It's not like I've never driven a car before because I have. Around the farm and not on highways! So when I was driving I was only going 80 km/h so I expected people to pass me but when someone actually did I got so tense! It was crazy! It was still so fun though. Of course I had to pick up a Fuze as well when we got there. hehe

Earthquake in Haiti

This is a long overdue post. As most of us know Haiti has undergone a HUGE earthquake and needs our help. It is an absolute tragedy in saying this but many people are homeless and starving. Anything you or anyone else you know can give, will help. It doesn't matter if it's ten dollars or one hundred dollars, every penny counts. Help the people of Haiti. I have a link to a very trusted source of donation, World Vision International. In fact, I have participated in their 30 hour famine which always a good way to donate to third world countries. Also, we have a sponsor child from their organization. So, if you want to give some family in Haiti some hope then donate at the link below :) You can also use the link on my sidebar to donate as well.

The Torch was Amazing!

I definitely can't stress this enough! Carrying the Olympic Torch was amazing! In my opinion however, it went way too fast! According to my fans (my family and friends :P) I pretty much sprinted my three blocks. I will forever regret that! Don't get me wrong, the time I had running with the torch was breathtaking.
It was so hilarious because when all 20 of the torchbearers for Swift Current were on the shuttle (to take us to our starting points) this 13 year old boy named Nick was so worried that a sniper was going to be there! It made everyone laugh! When we stopped for awhile I noticed there were some people outside the shuttle. They had signs that read "Anti Olympics". I was so mad at them I was going to flip them over the couch! (Haha metaphorically speaking of course!) They didn't make me lose my spirit though!
When I got off the shuttle I got emotional. It was so amazing I cried. My fans were there all wanting their picture with me and the torch! I felt like a VIP. No scratch that, a celebrity. The torchbearer before me lit me torch (the kiss of the flame) and I ran! A media truck was ahead of me snapping pictures and taking video. I can get that all for free later on the web! Woop!
A family came up to me after at the celebration afterward. They all wanted me to take a picture with them. So I let them. Then they asked, "Is that the real torch?!" And I said yup. Well that got them all bug eyed. They wanted to hold it! I was kinda unsure so I gave my dad a heads up just in case they tried running off with it! That thing was worth $400! But it was a once in a lifetime chance and all so yeah.
Overall I think I had one of the best times of my young little life! :)
(I'm also pretty sure that counted as my fifteen minutes of fame.)

Tomorrow is the day!

WOOO! I'm so excited! Tomorrow is the big day! The moment I get to carry the torch!
Sheridan has donned herself my personal trainer. According to her I have to do 20 push ups every night (if there's one thing to know about me, i do NOT have upper body strength and doing one normal push up is a tough feat for me!), carry a bottle of water in the air every evening (the weight of the torch), and going out to the pasture and chasing cows (to build endurance). Whether the last one is for her own amusement or for real I'll never know. I'm so pumped! If you want to watch me carry the torch go to this live web cam of the torch broadcast at 6:36 PM CST (Central Standard Time) tomorrow.

I'm Carrying the Olympic Torch!

This is absolutely ridiculously HUGE news for me! I've known for a long time but I thought I'd let you know about this a week from D-day. hahaha. Anyway, I'm carrying the torch for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games!! I have all my gear and all my information. Sunday is the big day!
I got this awesome opportunity from a place I told you about quite awhile ago. Do you remember Sogo Active? Well that was my ticket to scoring the torch.
Of course, me being Miss Procrastinate I left the offer to actually one week after the deadline so as you may assume I am not buying my torch. (boo on me....) But I get to keep the uniform. (thank goodness!) I've got to say when I signed up for Sogo Active I expected nothing. But here I am now! Wow....am I getting corny or what?
It's funny because when I got my forms it was so precise that it made me laugh. And I quote "You will arrive at the meeting point at precisely 6:36 PM." Hahahahaha. It sounded so professional.
I'm still in shock but still so excited! Is that possible? Being in shock and excited? Oh well.
