Snowboarding
I've got to say I'm doing pretty decent for my second time snowboarding! And defineatly not as sore! That's always a plus. I do have some battle wounds though. What I thought was a bruise is really going to turn out as a scar! It's quite a funny story on how it all happened....
Kortney and I were going down the hill or more accurately, the almost flat slope, and I started turning and I couldn't stop. I warned Kortney but she couldn't turn and then BAM! I hit her and I flipped over her and knocked my snowboard on her back. Her snowboard hit my shin and then we both laid there and laughed. Normal people would have been moaning in pain but we laughed. For the rest of the day, me and her were like magnets. All my crashes involved her somehow. Even with all the bang-ups it was a great day! I absolutely LOVE snowboarding! I wish we lived closer to the hill!
I'm proud to say that I can carve! Not great but enough to get me down the hill.....sometimes. ;)

The Sledding Adventure
I absolutely get a kick out of sledding with my friends! Our youth group went sledding out at my friend, Arielle's farm. (Or out behind in the steep hills is more like it!) Anyhow, they had tubes there! Those are the best sled you can ever ask for! I don't care what people say about tobaggans and crazy carpets and saucers, tubes are the best.
Basically, everyone attempted to pile onto one tube. It did work! Barely. Then there was the pyramid.....well let's just say that didn't work as well. Keanna was on the top and I swear when we hit and a bump and she flew over us and on the ground, she was moving in slow motion. We went right over her! Thankfully, she was okay. It was still kinda funny though....
At one point, Shannon, Arielle and I decided to go on the tube together. There was this metal thing at the bottom of the hill that everyone tried to avoid. So we started going down the hill and of course, we started sliding over to the metal thing. I yelled "Abort!" and we all abandoned ship. It was pretty epic actually. This happened again except I was in the middle and couldn't 'abort' without the other two aborting first and they wouldn't. So I pressed my back into the snow in the middle of the tube and dragged us to a stop. Hey, desperate times call for desperate measures. :)
It was so fun though. Good times.

The "Official" Torch Picture

The Torch was Amazing!

I definitely can't stress this enough! Carrying the Olympic Torch was amazing! In my opinion however, it went way too fast! According to my fans (my family and friends :P) I pretty much sprinted my three blocks. I will forever regret that! Don't get me wrong, the time I had running with the torch was breathtaking.
It was so hilarious because when all 20 of the torchbearers for Swift Current were on the shuttle (to take us to our starting points) this 13 year old boy named Nick was so worried that a sniper was going to be there! It made everyone laugh! When we stopped for awhile I noticed there were some people outside the shuttle. They had signs that read "Anti Olympics". I was so mad at them I was going to flip them over the couch! (Haha metaphorically speaking of course!) They didn't make me lose my spirit though!
When I got off the shuttle I got emotional. It was so amazing I cried. My fans were there all wanting their picture with me and the torch! I felt like a VIP. No scratch that, a celebrity. The torchbearer before me lit me torch (the kiss of the flame) and I ran! A media truck was ahead of me snapping pictures and taking video. I can get that all for free later on the web! Woop!
A family came up to me after at the celebration afterward. They all wanted me to take a picture with them. So I let them. Then they asked, "Is that the real torch?!" And I said yup. Well that got them all bug eyed. They wanted to hold it! I was kinda unsure so I gave my dad a heads up just in case they tried running off with it! That thing was worth $400! But it was a once in a lifetime chance and all so yeah.
Overall I think I had one of the best times of my young little life! :)
(I'm also pretty sure that counted as my fifteen minutes of fame.)

Tomorrow is the day!
WOOO! I'm so excited! Tomorrow is the big day! The moment I get to carry the torch!
Sheridan has donned herself my personal trainer. According to her I have to do 20 push ups every night (if there's one thing to know about me, i do NOT have upper body strength and doing one normal push up is a tough feat for me!), carry a bottle of water in the air every evening (the weight of the torch), and going out to the pasture and chasing cows (to build endurance). Whether the last one is for her own amusement or for real I'll never know. I'm so pumped! If you want to watch me carry the torch go to this live web cam of the torch broadcast at 6:36 PM CST (Central Standard Time) tomorrow.

I'm Carrying the Olympic Torch!

This is absolutely ridiculously HUGE news for me! I've known for a long time but I thought I'd let you know about this a week from D-day. hahaha. Anyway, I'm carrying the torch for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games!! I have all my gear and all my information. Sunday is the big day!
I got this awesome opportunity from a place I told you about quite awhile ago. Do you remember Sogo Active? Well that was my ticket to scoring the torch.
Of course, me being Miss Procrastinate I left the offer to actually one week after the deadline so as you may assume I am not buying my torch. (boo on me....) But I get to keep the uniform. (thank goodness!) I've got to say when I signed up for Sogo Active I expected nothing. But here I am now! Wow....am I getting corny or what?
It's funny because when I got my forms it was so precise that it made me laugh. And I quote "You will arrive at the meeting point at precisely 6:36 PM." Hahahahaha. It sounded so professional.
I'm still in shock but still so excited! Is that possible? Being in shock and excited? Oh well.

Swift Current Ball Tournament
Oh how I wish I had pictures to show you for this but the sad truth is I don't. Yesterday my baseball team headed to Swift Current for a ball tournament. I went up with my friend, Kortney. On the way up to pass the time we started taking pictures. Not just pictures of us but of random cars driving by! We were trying to guess the expressions on their faces. I felt so creepy but hey! When we got there the temperature was already a scorching 30 degrees! I'm telling you I felt so gross by the end of the day! Anyway, the first game we won 21 to 1. Easy as pie. (That saying doesn't make sense really, "Easy as pie"? Pie is NOT easy to cook!) After that game me and Kortney went to the mall since there was 3 hours in between games. When we were in Walmart we were listening to music cards, embarassing ourselves in front of the employees and haing a hilarious time! Our whole team ended up buying crazy sunglasses for the next game! Mine were bright orange! Good times. The second game was also easy as pie, won it by 11 points. The last game though was not easy as pie or was it since pie is not easy to bake? Anyway, we lost by 11 points. We still had a good time. We ended up getting second place. On the way home, me and Kortney decided we were going to sing all the way home. So we did. We sang every song we could think of. True story.

Football
Me and my brother decided to play football one day. Oh boy. I am absolutely horrible at it! When I threw the ball it went over Tyler, to the right, to the left. Anywhere but in his hands! It was still a good time though!

Go Broncos Go!
Yet another Swift Current Broncos Game!! Well my mom is in Edmonton for Stamping Regionals (That makes stamping sound like an international sport...) so my dad had a "surprise". You could hardly call it a surprise when he told you that you have to prepare to go somewhere, you might need a coat, and to bring along your Swift Current Broncos cap....
When we got there we got in line to pick up our tickets. My dad had reserved our tickets with our last name. So we get in line and ask for "Knodel". They tell us they don't have them!! Well after an extensive search they found them under "Anodel". Someone wasn't listening over the phone....
Of course me and my brother made our makeshift cowbells again!! That is great! Actually dad bought us some real ones this time!! (Shocking....) So the next game we go to we're gonna have cowbells!

Snowboarding: Painful but Great!!
Snowboarding was awesome!! We started on a very very small hill. I'm pretty sure they don't even call this a hill. It's more of a very gradual slope. Well anyway we fell a bit on that. Sad but true. After that hill we went to our lesson and that helped a lot!! We learned how to side slip, go on our toe and heel edge, and stop. (foreign language for all you non snowboarders!! hehe) After the lesson we all felt like pros but we were far from it! On the ski lift Raeann and I were sitting on the ends and Caitlin was sitting in the middle. When we got off Caitlin went straight and me and Raeann both went inwards and crashed into each other! We just laughed! Another time on the lift we all got off straight and then we all fell down at the same time! Great funniness. hehe Well I didn't come back completely unharmed. On the last run of the day at the bottom of the hill Caitlin called " Look Out!". Personally I don't know why she called that but I looked back at her and I crashed. Hard. I practically smashed my wrist into my hip. Luckily it wasn't broken just sprained. It was actually kind of humorous believe it or not. Caitlin was crushing ice on my wrist and Raeann was wandering around me while I was screamin my head off. It would have been a very odd sight. Other than that we had a great time! Snowboarding has officially taken the place of skiing in my life!

Snowboarding!!
Oh yeah!! Finally! I get to try snowboarding! It was sort of a spur of the moment thing! (Thats how most things are with me!) I am tempted to put a pillow on my butt. I have heard all sorts of horror stories about sore butts. Very tempted but I won't. At least I'm with my friends! We'll laugh at each others disasters! Everybody says we're going to end up giving up but we'll show them! Anyhow, I think this is great news so I thought I'd share it with you all! (I was going to say y'all but I stopped myself!)

Bath Beads
I was curling today and we had an awesome time! We lost our first game, laughed about it and won our last game and laughed about it! (See? You can laugh about anything!) Well our skip was totally bummed out about the first game and the rest of looked like we all had too much caffeine. So since we lost the first game we had a 4 hour wait before our next one. That 4 hours was filled with randomness and more laughing! Hehe. Oh yes, there was music involved and maybe a little random dancing. Ok! I love "Right Round" by Flo Rida. The funny thing about his name is that he lives in Florida and that is his name. Anyway, I thought I would just add that in. After our triumphant victory against the leading team and my ride home watching Corner Gas in my friends' truck, I had a nice relaxing bath with bath beads. (This is not something I normally do. It's mostly rushed showers and the super cold feeling when I get out.) I read my book. Then I squirted myself with this weird squirtable lotion. So weird.

A Strange Skiing Experience

The other day me and my brother went skiing. It was a gorgeous day! We were actually hot! Anyway, it was really busy that day because, well, I guess it was a Saturday. And when it's busy you this get paired up with all sorts of people on the ski lift!
There were some guys with English accents skiing! It was hilarious! We overheard them speaking all English like and they were saying stuff like "That's rubbish!" and "Quick now there!". Good times. What I wouldn't give to have an awesome accent like that!!
Ok, there was also this little boy probably around 12 that we went up on the ski lift with. He loved to talk! He wouldn't stop blabbing! It was mostly about something he did. One of the odd things he said was "Oh man! I am such a bad boy! I have two homework assignments to do and I still haven't done them!". Then the other guy on the ski lift (he wasn't related or didn't even know the kid) told him that he better get them done. Then the kid said "No silly! I'm skiing!". It was all sort of strange.
Another odd person we went on the ski lift was this guy we couldn't understand. He was speaking some strange foreign language to people below us. Me and Tyler just continued talking since he couldn't understand us. Actually, he might have been able to understand us. Well, isn't that awkward?
Not everyone we went up with was weird, there was a nice couple who was skiing with their family for the day. They ended up living in the same general area as us! (When you live in the country "the same general area" is usually a 100 km radius.) They even ended up knowing our Aunt and Uncle......and our Uncle's brother....and my Uncle's brother's mom. Kind of creepy but they were quite nice and the guy had a pretty decent sense of humor!
Well, since it was only me and my brother skiing and my mom was off in a city nearby she had given me my dad's cell phone. We had some good times with that cell phone! My dad has a bunch of weird ring tones that came with the phone. So me and my brother decided we were going to listen to them while we were on the ski lift. The people on the car ahead of us kept turning around to see where the noise was coming from. As soon as they turned around we would shut off the ring tones. When they turned back to facing the front we turned them back on. We repeated this for awhile! Then my brother had an idea. He convinced me to ski down the hill with this hill billyish army ringer going. These were loud ring tones so there was no way you wouldn't hear it! So I went down the hill making a fool of myself but I just thought to myself, when am I ever going to see these people again?
Overall we had a great time, odd but great!
I have sort of tradition in skiing to pick out a person randomly and see how many times you run into him or her. (Some of you may be thinking that it is kind of creepy but oh well.) I picked this guy with flashy red pants, sorta hard to miss. I just ended up calling him "red". We ran into red about 6 times that day, some at more pleasant times than others

Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games

Well the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics are coming! All us Canadians are pumped and ready. We have the motivational commercials playing showing the drive of our athletes. Yes we even have a Petro Canada commercial that encourages you to buy "Olympic" cups! I'm ready for it as well. I think going to it would be awesome but that probably won't happen. Oh well, Live Broadcast is just as good!
I love the mascots! They're always so cute. If anybody actually knows, could someone tell me what is on Sumi's head? It looks like it could be a disformed hockey mask with horns but I'm sure there is an official name or something. Is it just me or is he also wearing a poncho? I've got to say my favorite is the big furry sasquatch looking guy named Quatchi. He sort of reminds me of Santa. Big, happy, and jolly.

Gold is a great color!!
You know what I think? Gold is a pretty decent color considering when you wear it around your neck! Our bball team took home the gold medal!! Woop!! Woop!! We totally dominated the tournament! We won the shooting contest and the games! I learned my lesson from last time though, rent a movie on your I-Pod when you have nothing to do on the way up! We were being so awesome when we were taking pictures randomly. There was some pretty good midair poses we had going! ( not just in the basketball games!)

My Awkward Basketball Game...
The other day I had a bball game and well...it was a horribly long drive. About two and a half hours. It's probably not that bad unless you had something to do!! You're probably thinking I could have been talking to my friends but no, they were seperated and were likely in the same situation I was. I got so bored I literally started counting the screws on the roof of the bus. It was a long bus ride and very cramped. I was stuck at the edge of a seat with my stuff in my lap. When we finally got there we lost by 30 points. Well I guess we tried!! Lol. Nothing comforts you like Subway though! A sub was all I needed to lift my spirits. The way back seemed even longer. I tried falling asleep but I couldn't. It was very eventful....
