The Oval Office

Something has come to my attention thanks to Red River Interiors blog. (http://www.redriverinteriors.blogspot.com/) This might be coincidental or it might be planned. I really have no clue. But I think it's pretty hilarious!
Apparently in the Whitehouse, they have an "oval office". It's literally an oval with randomly places sofas and expensive little knick knacks. The funny part of this whole thing, to me, is the fact that the term "oval office" means bathroom. I have no idea if they planned it to be funny, or if it's all just one big coincidence! Kinda funny though!

Things in the Peat Moss

Well yesterday I had a bit of an adventure while digging up a flowerbed. Let me tell you about it...haha. So my mom told me to work some peat moss into the soil in the flowerbed when I was hoeing it like no one's business. Let me tell you, if I had a dollar for every dead plant with impossible roots making it impossible to pull it out, I'd be rich! Look out Bill Gates. Also FYI, I got a sunburn! Anyhow, I went to go grab the peat moss from the shed and looked inside and saw something fuzzy...So normally when you see a strange object in your peat moss, you're not really tempted to touch it. Well I didn't touch it either. I went and got mom. Oh yes, Mom.
I told her there were "things in the peat moss".
She asked, "What do you mean things in the peat moss?"
"There are THINGS in the peat moss!"
"Well ok then, let's go see these THINGS in the peat moss."
So we trecked out to the shed and she opened the bag of peat moss and there was a ....MOUSE! We both screamed. Loudly. So Mom takes the peat moss and dumps it out and the mouse scurries off and that's not all! There were baby mice attached to the mom mouse! At first glance, I thought the mom was giving birth but no that was not the case. They were just grabbing some milk. So then the mice scurry under some flowers (as shown above) and stay there. It was crazy!

Band Trip 2010!

I have so much I could say about Band Trip!!! I'll give you the highlights so I don't get carpal tunnel.......
Well I guess I should start with Bill. Bill was the bus driver. Good ol' Bill had no idea where he was going I swear. First of all, we go down a one-way street the wrong way. (How he managed that, I'll never know...) Then we go into the parking lot of a hotel we're not staying in and we stay there for a good fifteen minutes. And the best blunder of all, we were driving around and we saw the stadium where the Edmonton Eskimos play and everyone was all amazed and everything. Then a few minutes later we're back at the stadium. Fifteen minutes later we're back at the stadium again and people are starting to wonder if Bill actually knew where he was going. Sure enough, fifteen minutes later we're back AGAIN! It was so funny.....
And of course, we went to the West Edmonton Mall and that was soooooo AWESOME! Me and Sheridan were on a schedule! We had mapped out all the places we wanted to go and we got everywhere in record time considering we only had 3 hours there!! So not enough time but anywho.....
And pretty much my favorite part of the trip was Galaxyland in the West Ed Mall!!! Let me just tell you, Mindbender (the largest indoor triple loop roller coaster in the world!!!) was AMAZING! It was funny because Me and Sam wanted to go on it. So we were almost at the front of the line and we were kinda getting intimidated by the bigness of it. I turned to Sam and asked her, "You know....maybe we should go on something smaller first....." and she agreed right away. So after our "smaller coaster" we told each other, "If everyone can do this than so can we!!" and we did. It was so nerve-wracking waiting for it to move. We expected the worst. So it started moving and me and Sam started screaming. It was absoluetly crazy! When you went over the loops, it was as if you blacked out for a second! Sam had felt it too! After the ride we went on it again right away! Soo fun! Then we made fishy lips for the camera on the coaster! haha

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful mom's out there!
Me and my brother decided to make mom breakfast in bed for Mother's Day. Surprisingly, we hadn't thought to do that before....It went well except for the fact that mom heard the noise we were making and went to investigate. She figured it out but we told her to go back to bed so she did. I made fried eggs for the first time and well....let's just say they weren't quite top notch. Tyler made the toast (he was very proud). We also made her a bowl of fruit. We were just going to give her her favorite drink, Grapefruit juice but Tyler decided it needed a twist. I told him it didn't need any "twist" but he put ginger ale in the drink anyhow. Mom didn't end up liking the drink too much. I hate to say I told you so but I told you so. haha Basically, our little meal for her went well!

April Fool's!!

April Fool's Day was a success this year! Sorta...I hadn't remembered it was April Fool's until I got to school. However, I pulled a bunch of random hilarious stunts. Well sorta...They were kind of spur of the moment so everyone thought they were pretty bad but I got a good kick out of them. When I went to my friend's house for lunch, I stole probably everything and hid it. haha. I also made her toast burn....cue evil laugh. Not the best jokes but still a great day!!!

Sweet Success!

So my DVD making expertise didn't go to waste, one of the DVD's I made sold for $85! Crazy! Apparently, everyone thought it was great but I could've done more with it. (Would it go for $100 then?) It was funny because when the auctioneer was finished auctioning off the first DVD that went for $85, he said "I'm so sorry the rest of don't get one! But.................I have more!" The whole crowd started laughing because everyone thought there was only one DVD, hence the huge price. So he auctioned off the rest which each went for $45. The whole auction made $17,000! When added to the crop it equaled over $73,000!
A pretty good job if I don't say so myself. 

What a Day!

Ok, so I went to town this morning with my friend Arielle. (She's got her license now so she can drive me places haha) She took me out to lunch at a fancy place called the Star Cafe and Grill for my birthday. (The party is tonight! I'm so excited!) And let me tell you, it IS fancy. They had a thirty dollar steak! That is ridiculous. But before you all think I'm insulting the place I'm not, because they have amazing food! It is SO good! She insisted that I dress up and let me tell you, that is NOT an easy feat for me. I'm really more the jeans and a sweater type of girl but I humored her :) I curled my hair. If I don't say so myself it looks pretty good!
Now, guess what I did in the place? I spilled my mango iced tea on the table! Of all places to be a klutz, why there?! Oh well, you got to embarrass yourself in public sometime! (And for me that seems to happen more often than not!) I had a pulled pork BBQ sandwich and mango cheesecake. It was so good.
After that, we had a few errands to do. I was supposed to rent a bunch of movies for tonight but, of course, the store was closed! Grr...but then Arielle pulled through for me and told me she'd bring a bunch of movies!
And I swear her family has so many movies and all the new ones too! They could run their own version of Netflix straight from their home!
On the way home I was wearing Arielle's bright purple sunglasses. I was talking about my orange ones at home and then she told me she had bought me some that would "supposedly" replace those. HA! Nothing can replace my orange sunglasses but we'll see.....
It all turned out to be a great day.

Sleeping Bag Funny Moment

Is it just me or when you say you're having a sleepover, sleeping bags are the obvious thing to bring? Yeah I thought so too. But apparently that's not the case because my mom has informed me that I have to tell everyone who's coming to bring their sleeping bags. It was pretty odd phoning up everyone and telling them to make sure they bring their sleeping bags! Haha. Just another funny moment curtosy of my family :)

Garbage Fright

I don't know what's wrong with my puppies but they have the strangest fear of garbage bags or mostly the sound they make when you move them. The rustling just gets to them. As soon as we have to move a garbage bag and it makes the rustling sound, they get spooked and run into the deepest corner of the porch they can. It's absolutely hilarious! Strange but hilarious. Just the way that Hally will cower behind her "protective" brother, Ace is funny because as soon as the bag is rustled again, Ace will take off. So funny...

Making Jerky

Doesn't that just look good? haha.

We made jerky yesterday. It was way easier than I thought. Dad was so excited for this. It wasn't that big a deal but to him it sounded like one of the highlights in his life. We had started out with the 'original' flavour. (ooh, aah.) I've got to say it smelled delicious! Yum.
We packed the jerky cannon (sounds brutal huh?) and started squeezing. Dad was so worried that it would be way to hard to push out and 'only a man can do it'. HA! I showed him! It went out as smooth as butter!
And now it sits in our fridge waiting to be eaten. :)

Back at Home!

Yes! Finally back at home! My brother and I spent a week at my Grandma's. Very low tech so you can imagine how I feel to be back on the computer! :)
My Grandma is the type of Grandma who plays electronic versions of her favorite game shows. (Deal or No Deal, Wheel of Fortune) It's kind of funny in a way because she plays those games when she watches the shows!
I don't think my Grandma has packed lunches for a good while because I opened my lunch at school and what do I find? Cookies. Cookies lose in my lunch without a bag or container. I laughed so hard pop came out of my nose! And the next day, crackers. Without bag or container. Once again I laughed. It was hilarious!
Overall though I had a good week and got a taste of town life and I've got to say I like farm life a whole lot better! :)

Swift Current Ball Tournament

Oh how I wish I had pictures to show you for this but the sad truth is I don't. Yesterday my baseball team headed to Swift Current for a ball tournament. I went up with my friend, Kortney. On the way up to pass the time we started taking pictures. Not just pictures of us but of random cars driving by! We were trying to guess the expressions on their faces. I felt so creepy but hey! When we got there the temperature was already a scorching 30 degrees! I'm telling you I felt so gross by the end of the day! Anyway, the first game we won 21 to 1. Easy as pie. (That saying doesn't make sense really, "Easy as pie"? Pie is NOT easy to cook!) After that game me and Kortney went to the mall since there was 3 hours in between games. When we were in Walmart we were listening to music cards, embarassing ourselves in front of the employees and haing a hilarious time! Our whole team ended up buying crazy sunglasses for the next game! Mine were bright orange! Good times. The second game was also easy as pie, won it by 11 points. The last game though was not easy as pie or was it since pie is not easy to bake? Anyway, we lost by 11 points. We still had a good time. We ended up getting second place. On the way home, me and Kortney decided we were going to sing all the way home. So we did. We sang every song we could think of. True story.

Strange Bird Phenomenon

Two days ago my family went up to Cypress Hills Park for supper at the resort. My cousins were there also. You know what's annoying? When the waitress still thinks you need a kiddie menu. She asked me how old I was and I said "Fourteen" probably a little more forcefully than I should have. Well, when we got the menu there happened to be only one burger on it. That dissapointed me because that's my usual, so I ordered the burger.
Our tabe happened to be by the window so my brother started watching birds. It was weird. They all would fly up to the same branch of a tree and literally fall off. It made no sense. They didn't fly, they fell.
My theory is it's either the bird's own personal joke he was playing on us or some strange bird thrill ride. It remains a mystery.

Mexican Imports

Well my Grandma came out yesterday and she was recently in Mexico. She brought us all gifts!! Yaah! Anywho....I got a Mexican doll. You know those creepy ones? I also got a Mexican pink t-shirt. (Interesting.....) Plus a Mexican chocolate bunny! Just kidding. Who knows if they even have chocolate down there? It's probably just tacos. My dad got Mexican coffee. He insisted on drinking it so we had to search for our coffee maker. The coffee maker was last seen sometime around before I was born so you can imagine the hunt. In the end we found it in our attic full of dust. Mexican imports are great!

Movie and Medicine

Yesterday I went to Medicine Hat with a few friends (Chelsey and Sheridan) to watch a movie. Chelsey being Chelsey had to buy some Jalepeno Sticks at Arby's in the food court before the movie so that took some time. She ended up stuffing them down her sweater to sneak them into the movie. You all know about the "No Snacks in the Theater Unless They're Our Own" rule. Nobody was watching to check tickets and there was 3D glasses on the counter. We all took a pair seriously thinking they were for our own movie and it turned out they weren't, so you can imagine everybody watching us strangely with our 3D glasses on.
On the way home I came home with my Aunt and my Grandma. My Grandma had some medicine with her. So we drop her off at her house and continue home. About halfway home and in the middle of the highway, Grandma phones and tells us she forgot her medicine and Grandpa was following us in his car to pick it up. So we found an approach on the side of the road and waited. It was pitch black out so we couldn't what kind of car was coming down the road. We saw a car in the distance thinking it was Grandpa and my Aunt honked the horn. It turned out to be some random dude. Well a few mistaken honks later Grandpa came and we went home. O Grnadma....

Is it Spring or Is It Winter?

I couldn't resist taking this. It was +26 degrees celcius today and yet there is snow on the ground. Isn't that just depressing? O well! I loved the weather today and wore my first capris of the season and wobbled along with the first bike ride of the season!

Thrift Shop Fun

Today me, my mom and a couple of friends were volunteering at the local Salvation Army. We were organizing clothes, shoes, mattress covers, toys, books, games, socks, curtains, cables and various Star Wars bobble heads. My mom had recently given a bag of her old clothes to the Salvation Army so she was worried that her bag would be looked through by her friends. It was! Well well well. We found a few pieces of lingerie in there. That's something I don't want to see again! Anywho, so we were sorting along and found these leather jeans! Yikes! Everyone wanted me to try them on! Me being weird went along with it and figured out they were mens jeans that wouldn't fit over my hips! Ai yi yi! That was a crazy night! In the end we all got coffee and pop. I even ended up with a rubber ducky as a thank you gift!

A Funny Coincidence on Oprah

I was watching Oprah just before I wrote this. (haha yes, Oprah! If you must know I was then watching Ellen after that...) Oprah was featuring David Murdock (David Murdock is the owner of Dole fruit company) and what he was doing to stay healthy. David ate only vegetables and fruit for every meal. Crazy!! Well he has a part of a fish for lunch but thats about it. He even makes vegetable and fruit smoothies!!! He puts peppers, mangoes, broccoli, celery, blueberries, and all sorts of fruits and vegetables in them. When it comes out it looks like mud but supposedley it tastes better than it looks! He says that he hasn't had the cold or flu for twenty years! (I could go for that!! hehe)

Anyway, to the funny part. David took Oprah shopping at......Costco. How cool is that? Two billionaires shopping at Costco. So David was stocking his cart with veggies and fruits and veggies. Oh? Did I say veggies twice? I meant to say it three times.

Anyway, so they were going to pay and David says he forgot his wallet. It happened that Oprah didn't have a wallet either. So in the end the producer had to pay for the cart load of veggies and fruits! (If you don't know what David Murdock looks like, I have added a picture. I chose this one due to the way it makes him look mysterious....)

Musings of a Busride

Well the bus ride was interesting.
I was sitting on a seat which I was sure the bottom was covered with gum.
The bumps of the gravel rode made me sway in my seat. I was enjoying a bag of snack mix which consisted of peanuts, gummy bears, Nibs, M&M's, Sunchips, pretzels, Rolo bites, chocolate covered cranberries, licorice all sorts, cheezies, doritos, and flax seed crackers. (I find the flax seed crackers the only odd tasting thing out of the bunch!) Delicious!
Rachelle (a young girl who is very annoying and is probably in grade threeish) was showing me a collection of her Littlest Pet Shop Pets from the other side of the bus with me half listening. And just for the sake of detail I'll name them or what kind of animals they were. (Just so everybodys clear I don't play with them!)
There was a chinchilla, a seal, a rabbit or was it a goat? Anyway, Tyler and Claydon (Rachelle's brother) were randomly punching the seat for the fun of it.
The funny thing is, is that I'm pretty sure most school bus rides are like this.

Vinja!!

As I was in the middle of stuffing roast beef into my mouth during supper my dads phone starts playing a catchy jingle. You know the jingles that are catchy but then get annoying after awhile. It was that sort of catchy jingle. It turns out it was a text message and it said "VINJA!!". We had no idea who it was from so we decided to reply. Well my dad said to write "Vinja?" so I did. After awhile the catchy jingle played again and it said "Noooo! It's kennedy!". We still had no idea who this person or kennedy was. So we texted back again. Once again my dad made a suggestion. He told me to text "You mean John F. Kennedy?" so I did. After another awhile the catchy jingle played again and said "No silly! Don't be so silly child!". We all laughed. We realized this guy didn't know he had the wrong number so what did we do? We texted back! Well, this time I said "You have the wrong number.". The next jingle was so random. I mean really random. It said "Will you go out with Jordyn?" I was going to text back saying "Only if he dyes his hair purple" but I didn't. I figured I might have ruined someone's life if I did that. So I just texted back saying "You have the wrong number!!!" Well the final jingle said "Who are you?" We all decided to leave the person alone so that was the end of it. Good times!!
