Today is a beautiful day and I couldn't ask for better! It's currently +5 degrees out and it's perfect weather for running with the dogs or snowboarding.....but sadly I'm not snowboarding. I will get some snowboarding time in if it kills me!! And it just might because I still have a scar from the last time....
Anyways! I kind of went off rambling there for a moment. It happens to the best of us.
It's so beautiful outside that I decided to take some pictures with my brand NEW camera! (Got that for Christmas by the way...)
So I was taking pictures of the dogs.
I was taking pictures of the snow.
I was taking pictures of the trees.
And then I was taking pictures of the cats.....that's when things went wrong. *Scary music plays*
It was all fine for a few moments but then Bob (one of the two cats) got curious and then swatted at the camera. It got snow in it and smudged up the screen.....my BRAND NEW CAMERA!! But I'll fix it.....hopefully.

My Plinky: Someone Who Deserves More Credit
Q: Who do you think deserves more credit?
A: Quite frankly, I think that the guy who invented scissors needs more credit. We use scissors all the time but no one acknowledges this person's brilliance!! But no longer!! That is why I am going to acknowledge.......umm......the guy who invented scissors......uuhh what's his name? Hold on, let me google it. It is Robert Hichliffe! Let's all give this guy a round of applause!!

Almost Christmas!!
There is two days until Christmas and the tree is trimmed, the tabletops are covered with Christmas cards and most of my presents are wrapped. (Very nicely, I might add....)
I don't think the reality of Christmas has hit me yet. It probably won't until Christmas Eve. Our yard is full of snow and our puppies are going pretty crazy chasing every snowflake thinking that somehow catching that snowflake will change their lives. This year for our puppies we got them HUGE rawhide bones. Not big, HUGE. They're probably a good 3 feet. Well over the average size of normal rawhide bones. haha. But then again we're not a normal family. ;)Mom has given me a project this year. She's told me to write our annual newsletter. I'm pretty excited about this for two reasons:
1. I Can Show the World My Writing Talent! ~ It gives me good practice since I plan on becoming a big shot journalist or at least work for a newspaper.
2. I Get to Represent the Family! ~ My mom has always been the voice of the family but no longer!
Two days until Christmas! Check my blog on Christmas Day for a few Christmas surprises for all my readers!

My Cooking Expertise!
Caesar Potatoes |
Italian Chicken |
Raspberry Dream Cups |
I made Italian Chicken, Caesar potatoes and Raspberry Dream Cups. I got all these recipes from What's Cooking? magazine. I love that magazine!! It all looks so good.....I'm the kind of person that needs pictures with a recipe. It gives me an idea about what it's supposed to look like, which almost never happens. And no, the pictures above are from the magazine and not what I cooked. They looked completely different.....at least the dream cups did. Haha. But my meal tasted delicious and I guess that's what counts!

Hello Again!
Hello again! It's November, also known as No-shave-ember! haha
It's a month long holiday celebrating the joys of not shaving! It's definitely up to you if you want to participate.......I am not.
So about that drama part I was hoping to get from my last post..........I got it!! I am Leah! It's a huge challenge with having to memorize so many lines and fake an allergic reaction, but I believe I can do it. We've had many practices and I am almost a pro at the Thriller dance. Almost. Actually a long ways from it. I'm sure I'll have it down before the production.....hopefully. If you want to learn it, check it out in my brand spanking new Video Gallery.
Also, we got cats. They're orange and their names are Bob and Tiger. Yes, we named our cat Bob. Bob is kind of different because he happens not to have no tail. He is perfectly fine otherwise though!
We got our first snow which is terribly unfortunate. I am not ready for cold weather at all! Go away snow!

Drama
This year for our Christmas drama we're doing this hilarious play! I can't tell you what it's called because it doesn't have a name to be called. Our drama teacher wrote it and forgot to name it. Strange, but I suppose that happens to the best of us!
I consider myself a shoo-in for one of the bigger roles but that's assuming and what I've learned from assuming is to never assume. Take last year for instance, I figured I'd have a big part but no, I got a three line part. So don't assume.
But if I was assuming (which I'm not!) I would think I'm going to get the part of the crazy psycotic elf, the hilarious underachieving employee or the dramatic teenage girl. Hopefully, I'll get one of those. Also, this play happens to have choreographed dance numbers which adds so much more awesomeness to a play! One of them is the "Thriller" dance and the other is one to the James Bond theme.
We get our parts Monday so wish me luck!!!

My Plinky: One Body Part I'd Change
Q: What's one body part you would like to change? Why?
A: I would like to change my wrists. It seems odd but they are the most skinny things you've ever seen. I keep hoping that I'll outgrow it but it isn't coming very quickly. I can't really fit into bracelets or watches all that well. So naturally I want them to be a little thicker.

My Plinky: My Ultimate Keepsakes
Q: If your house started on fire and you could only grab a few keepsakes, what would you grab and why?
A: Journal
This item keeps me together and secretly I want it to be found someday and published like Anne Frank's diary.
My Box
My Box is basically keepsakes in a keepsake, It's full of photos, prizes, trinkets, my canine tooth......you name it! It pretty much makes a complete picture of me.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!! (Well I guess not everyone,,,,,the US for instance...) I love having Thanksgiving at this time of year! I'm almost positive that Canadians gain the most weight in this month because not only does it have the main meal, Thanksgiving, but also dessert, Halloween! So stuff your faces and be proud!! Well Thanksgiving at our house has always been a family affair. But since it's just my mom, dad and me and my brother, my mom bought a smaller turkey. When she was stuffing it she happened to accidentally break its back.......and now it's all floppy. A floppy turkey. So she did eventually get the turkey in the oven. Soon though we hit another road bump. I smelled smoke. I told mom to go check the turkey and a little bit of turkey had fallen out of the pot and onto the oven floor. It was sizzling and smoking and it almost started on fire. If our turkey had burnt that would have just been heart breaking. But no it didn't and I'm thankful! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

Colors
I took this picture today having the black and white thing in mind. I love it! My idea is to get one of me maybe wearing a colorful necklace, these socks and holding that flower while sitting on a coral. I think it'll turn out great and I'll post it here so all of you can see it!

A Little Furry Surprise
So today I had to cut some dead branches off some of the trees in our ditch. My puppies had come along with me for moral support but soon abandoned it for a much more interesting puddle. I got right down to work and was about halfway done my job and just finishing cutting off a branch when this furry little thing ran across my feet! I screamed, accidently cut myself with the saw (not seriously) and literally ran up one of the trees! I probably could've avoided the whole fiasco if I had been watching the dogs because they were actually chasing it.....
Then my mom comes out wondering why in the world I was screaming. I told her and she just laughed and said she wasn't scared of mice! I beg to differ!!! This isn't the first mouse incident I've had this year! (Go to my post, Things in the Peat Moss to read about my other one....)
So there I was stuck in this tree and not wanting to get down because I was afraid of a little mouse that was probably long gone. Eventually though I got down and finished the job. That was enough excitement for one day!

My Plinky: A Voyage to the Moon
Q: If you could get a free trip to the moon, would you take it?
A: I like to think I'm a go-getter but honestly I don't think I would go. It would be an amazing and humbling experience but after watching Apollo 13 I've decided space travel isn't for me.

Cure to Sadness :)
I've been completley out of sorts for awhile and I need a way to brighten my day. I was so bad I was tripping over everything and embarrassing myself in front of everyone So I decided I'll wear bright socks and dance around the house and listen to happy songs. And when I say bright socks I mean rainbow-up-to-the-knee socks and when I say happy music I mean Lollipop by Cartoon in Motion, Daylight by Grand and Happy by Never Shout Never. These songs and bright socks are the best therapy in the world! Try it sometime :)

Happy October!
It's October so Happy October everyone!!! October is black cats, witches, the occasional snow, bad luck, the color orange and also National Sarcasm Awareness Month. So my challenge to all of you is to yell 'SARCASM!' if you hear anyone use it. I know half of the people who read this won't but that's why it's called a challenge! ;) And let's make this even more interesting.....so whoever yells out 'SARCASM!' when somebody uses it in a public place and comments their story about it on this post, I'll make a post all about your story! So let's get cracking! October doesn't last all year!

My Plinky: The Battle for Coffee Fame
Q: Create a 100 word story about pirates and ninjas.
A: Once there was this ninja who decided to make the most excellent cup of coffee ever. There was a pirate who also wanted the same thing. The ninja put tomatoes in his to give it an Italian flavor but it failed. The pirate went mexican on the coffee and added taco mix. They both submitted their orders to starbucks. They waited and waited and waited and waited and waited and finally the letters came. They excitedly tore open the envelopes hoping for their chance at coffee fame. None of the ideas worked because, really, who does that sort of thing? Seriously.

My Plinky: The Weirdest Food I've Ever Eaten
Q: What is the weirdest food you've ever eaten?
A: The weirdest food I have ever eaten is chocolate and tomatoes. Never try it! I mean NEVER! It's the absolute worst thing your taste buds will ever experience!

Fall
Well since I didn't even realize fall has officially begun 7 days ago, it goes to show how much I really look at a calendar. But oh well! I could defineately tell fall was here without looking at the calendar.
The leaves on our trees were turning orange, red and yellow, the morning starts off with dew on the grass, the dogs start to shiver, everyone starts wearing hoodies again and a new season of modern family starts up! Speaking of modern family, I think it's my new show of the year! I love it! It's absolutely hilarious!

Dancing with the Stars
I love Dancing with the Stars!! It's such a great, funny, sad, makes-me-mad kind of show! It has all the qualtities needed in a good show!
So my pick for this year is Kyle Massey and Lacey Shwimmer or Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough. They both did pretty darn good!
You know what's funny though? If you listen to the lyrics in the songs when stars get kicked off and they're doing their "final dance". The one song was singing 'I can't stand losing' and one of the other ones was singing 'I'll never dance again...'. And yet another said 'I'm going home to the place where I belong'. Haha.

Oh how I love Rainbow Twizzlers! Not only do they taste amazing, they smell like play dough! It takes you back to the days when you actually considered eating play dough. Aaah, those were the days......

The Working Life :P
So today I worked for my mom at the elevator in town. Let's get something clear, this is NOT an elevator in a hotel that takes you up floors and little kids race to press the buttons type of elevator. This is a grain elevator. (Just for all you city folk!)
If I ever see another number again I might scream! So if I scream in math class, don't judge me. I didn't do this voluntarily, I got paid. One of the only perks about this whole shebang. If anyone is interested I could probably train someone to work at an elevator from all the information that was forced into my tiny head. Any takers? I thought not. :)

The Oval Office
Something has come to my attention thanks to Red River Interiors blog. (http://www.redriverinteriors.blogspot.com/) This might be coincidental or it might be planned. I really have no clue. But I think it's pretty hilarious!
Apparently in the Whitehouse, they have an "oval office". It's literally an oval with randomly places sofas and expensive little knick knacks. The funny part of this whole thing, to me, is the fact that the term "oval office" means bathroom. I have no idea if they planned it to be funny, or if it's all just one big coincidence! Kinda funny though!

And It Begins
So today was my first day of the most promising year of grade 10! It was an interesting time seeing everything all renovated. For instance I realized the horror of running laps in a way bigger gym than last year. And we now also have a full size stage so we can host drama competitions! Huzzah! There is this one place in the hall where you're literally shoulder to shoulder to tummy to back with people. It's extremely squishy! Sheridan said to me "It's like herding cows!". It really is. The best way to get out of there is just to muscle through. And of course me with my huge pipes (not really) do excellent there....
As for the classes, well, what can I say really? I have gym first period until January and that pretty much sets the mood (and the perspiration) for the rest of the day. Unless of course we play dodgeball. (Perspiration stays the same....) I like that game.
Overall, I'm making it sound way worse than it is. It's going to be a great year!

The End of Summer
Tomorrow is the first day of grade 10! I'm so excited. I feel so senior-y! Technically it should be my first day of high school but I've been in the high school since grade 8 so that offer kind of lost it's charm for me. If someone were to ask me what I'm planning for after high school I would have no idea. (Journalism possibly?) I have no clue. I should probably have a clue but I don't. I'll have to do some serious looking about this year because next year I have to choose classes that actually go along with my career plans. MY CAREER PLANS?! Who said I wanted to grow up yet? Not me! But I have to.....eventually.

Step Up 3D
Step Up 3D is the best movie I have ever seen! Go see it! NOW! haha But seriously. The fact that it's in 3D is even better so don't go see it in theaters unless it's in 3D! If you don't have a theater near you that shows 3D moves then you will travel to one that does. No questions asked. And if there is no possible way to see it in 3D than I guess you can see it normally. I guess. This movie made me love "Club Can't Handle Me" by Flo Rida. It is a great song!! Camped Out!
I've been to camp like crazy this summer! The first week of July I went to CIT (counselor in training) the 9-10 yr old camp and then the week after that I CIT'd the 11-12 yr old camp! Wowzers. And now, tomorrow I get to go to camp as a camper! Woo! Everything's all fine and dandy except for the fact that it's only a weekend. :( Oh well, I still get to see all my camp buddies! If you think all that was a lot of camp, well then, we're also going camping in the second week of August! Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'll be camped out by then!

Just Another Day of Summer...
Oh how I love summer! Today we decided we have had enough of the dogs getting all muddy and wet from sources unknown so we bought them a little wading pool. Not the blow-up kind because that thing would pop on the first day! It was a hard plastic one. We figured they would have a blast splashing around in it on hot days. Well when we brought it home the dogs looked at it like "What is that thing doing in our yard?". So I tried persuading the dogs to come in. I even went in to try to get them to come in! I called their names but all they would do was drink from the side. Not quite what we bought it for....So I decided if I could get Jessie (the older dog and the "adopted mom" of the two puppies) in I would be able to get the puppies in. I threw her toy in the middle of the pool and she stuck her head under the water on the side! Well thats going to get you nowhere. So I shook it around a little and eventually Jessie figured out she had to go into the pool to get it. The puppies just watched. Well! Then later on when I was back in the house I saw that Ace was in the pool! Huzzah! Hally wasn't. She was just drinking the water of course. I have yet to get Hally in the pool but I will before the end of the summer!

Things in the Peat Moss
Well yesterday I had a bit of an adventure while digging up a flowerbed. Let me tell you about it...haha. So my mom told me to work some peat moss into the soil in the flowerbed when I was hoeing it like no one's business. Let me tell you, if I had a dollar for every dead plant with impossible roots making it impossible to pull it out, I'd be rich! Look out Bill Gates. Also FYI, I got a sunburn! Anyhow, I went to go grab the peat moss from the shed and looked inside and saw something fuzzy...So normally when you see a strange object in your peat moss, you're not really tempted to touch it. Well I didn't touch it either. I went and got mom. Oh yes, Mom.
I told her there were "things in the peat moss".
She asked, "What do you mean things in the peat moss?"
"There are THINGS in the peat moss!"
"Well ok then, let's go see these THINGS in the peat moss."
So we trecked out to the shed and she opened the bag of peat moss and there was a ....MOUSE! We both screamed. Loudly. So Mom takes the peat moss and dumps it out and the mouse scurries off and that's not all! There were baby mice attached to the mom mouse! At first glance, I thought the mom was giving birth but no that was not the case. They were just grabbing some milk. So then the mice scurry under some flowers (as shown above) and stay there. It was crazy!

Wishful Thinking
Ho hum. You know what would be great? Visiting Europe. That's what would be great! I can see it now.....Greece, Paris, Spain, Venice, England and so on. You might be wondering why I'm even bringing this up. Well, I was looking through a friend's pictures from Europe and they were absolutly amazing! It just makes you wish you could go there! So that is officially a life goal! Go to Europe. And while I'm young and with a friend! Maybe when I'm in my twenties! If this blog is still around by then I will blog every step of the way!

I Love the Weather!
It's officially summer in my mind! I'm sunburnt and it's been 30+ degrees out lately! As long as we don't get any ridiculous snowstorms! I am also working at two camps this year!! SO excited! Summer is gonna be a good one this year! I just know it! I feel it in the heat radiating from my sunburn....
Band Trip 2010!
↑ Hailee, Sam and I on the rollercoaster!!
I have so much I could say about Band Trip!!! I'll give you the highlights so I don't get carpal tunnel.......
Well I guess I should start with Bill. Bill was the bus driver. Good ol' Bill had no idea where he was going I swear. First of all, we go down a one-way street the wrong way. (How he managed that, I'll never know...) Then we go into the parking lot of a hotel we're not staying in and we stay there for a good fifteen minutes. And the best blunder of all, we were driving around and we saw the stadium where the Edmonton Eskimos play and everyone was all amazed and everything. Then a few minutes later we're back at the stadium. Fifteen minutes later we're back at the stadium again and people are starting to wonder if Bill actually knew where he was going. Sure enough, fifteen minutes later we're back AGAIN! It was so funny.....
And of course, we went to the West Edmonton Mall and that was soooooo AWESOME! Me and Sheridan were on a schedule! We had mapped out all the places we wanted to go and we got everywhere in record time considering we only had 3 hours there!! So not enough time but anywho.....
And pretty much my favorite part of the trip was Galaxyland in the West Ed Mall!!! Let me just tell you, Mindbender (the largest indoor triple loop roller coaster in the world!!!) was AMAZING! It was funny because Me and Sam wanted to go on it. So we were almost at the front of the line and we were kinda getting intimidated by the bigness of it. I turned to Sam and asked her, "You know....maybe we should go on something smaller first....." and she agreed right away. So after our "smaller coaster" we told each other, "If everyone can do this than so can we!!" and we did. It was so nerve-wracking waiting for it to move. We expected the worst. So it started moving and me and Sam started screaming. It was absoluetly crazy! When you went over the loops, it was as if you blacked out for a second! Sam had felt it too! After the ride we went on it again right away! Soo fun! Then we made fishy lips for the camera on the coaster! haha

Happy Mother's Day!
Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful mom's out there!
Me and my brother decided to make mom breakfast in bed for Mother's Day. Surprisingly, we hadn't thought to do that before....It went well except for the fact that mom heard the noise we were making and went to investigate. She figured it out but we told her to go back to bed so she did. I made fried eggs for the first time and well....let's just say they weren't quite top notch. Tyler made the toast (he was very proud). We also made her a bowl of fruit. We were just going to give her her favorite drink, Grapefruit juice but Tyler decided it needed a twist. I told him it didn't need any "twist" but he put ginger ale in the drink anyhow. Mom didn't end up liking the drink too much. I hate to say I told you so but I told you so. haha Basically, our little meal for her went well!

Hoppy Easter!
Hoppy Easter everyone!! (Get it? I'm sure you do.) It's the wonderful holiday filled with bunny chocolates, Peeps and animals trying to become bunnies. Well, I know one thing for certain. Easter didn't come from bunnies and eggs and chocolate. It came from God. He died for us, need we be reminded. He saved us so we could go to heaven! Don't get me wrong, I love the chocolate eggs and bunnies. Personally though, I'm more of the hollow chocolate bunnies person and not bite-into-a-brick-of-chocolate-and-break-your-teeth kind of person. But that's just me! Hope everyone's Easter is filled with fun! (and the plastic stuffing you fill Easter baskets with!)

Good Friday Breakfast
As always, the Good Friday breakfast was a huge hit! Especially with all those crapes! (Don't know what crapes are? Please refer to the picture above ↑ ) There was one strange thing that happened with the food though. The eggs turned gray. It was so weird. It looked like silly putty. Not very appetizing.....
We had a great band! They are called the Hunter Family. They sing western gospel music. They were absolutely hilarious and so talented! The whole family was hockey players. The Good Friday breakfast was great!

April Fool's!!
April Fool's Day was a success this year! Sorta...I hadn't remembered it was April Fool's until I got to school. However, I pulled a bunch of random hilarious stunts. Well sorta...They were kind of spur of the moment so everyone thought they were pretty bad but I got a good kick out of them. When I went to my friend's house for lunch, I stole probably everything and hid it. haha. I also made her toast burn....cue evil laugh. Not the best jokes but still a great day!!!

Alice in Wonderland
I NEED to go see Alice in Wonderland!!!
It looks SO good! I've been trying to convince my friends to go but we haven't set a date.....I mean, who wouldn't want to see a show about a girl getting lost in a rabbit hole. Who does that?
Johnny Depp is looking his best in years in my opinion. Haha good joke. Still looking spiffy though.

Sweet Success!
So my DVD making expertise didn't go to waste, one of the DVD's I made sold for $85! Crazy! Apparently, everyone thought it was great but I could've done more with it. (Would it go for $100 then?) It was funny because when the auctioneer was finished auctioning off the first DVD that went for $85, he said "I'm so sorry the rest of don't get one! But.................I have more!" The whole crowd started laughing because everyone thought there was only one DVD, hence the huge price. So he auctioned off the rest which each went for $45. The whole auction made $17,000! When added to the crop it equaled over $73,000!
A pretty good job if I don't say so myself.

Auction Tonight
As of 2 hours ago I started mass-producing DVD's. I feel like I work in an office sometimes, I swear. haha.
So this morning when I woke up (at 11:30 am hehe) I find a note on the table that says, "Daylynn, make 6 DVD's for tonight." So now I am doing just that, making DVD's. It takes forever to make one so I'm likely going to be on the computer all day! My goodness....
Anyhow, the reason I'm making all these DVD's is because my dad is organizing an auction for the Canadian Foodgrains Bank. It's an organization that helps feed the hungry. Farmers farm land and all the proceeds from the crops go to third world countries. So, he's putting on an auction tonight to add to the crop proceeds.
Well, back to DVD's.

I got my Learner's!
I've kinda got some BIG news! I got my Learner's license! Wooohooo!
I went for a drive today with my dad ON THE HIGHWAY! It's not like I've never driven a car before because I have. Around the farm and not on highways! So when I was driving I was only going 80 km/h so I expected people to pass me but when someone actually did I got so tense! It was crazy! It was still so fun though. Of course I had to pick up a Fuze as well when we got there. hehe

My American Idol Pick!
So I have chosen my person to follow this season on American Idol. His name is Tim Urban. :) I have, in the past, had some luck in choosing guys right from the beginning. Let's not forget Adam Lambert? haha. Well this time this guy is going to win. None of this runner up nonsense. Actually scratch that, getting runner up is better for the artist since you're not so committed. Well he'll make the top two anyway!

I ♥ Fuze
These drinks are SO good! I am addicted to them! Not only are they good amazing for you, they taste delicious! They come in four categories: Refresh, Slenderize, Tea and Vitalize. Refresh is a way of refreshing your daily intake of vitamins. Personally, I like Banana Colada the best...Slenderize is a low carb version of the drink and tea is exactly what it says, tea. Whether it be green tea or white tea. Finally, Vitalize is a form of energy drink. These taste so great and are so good for you so I have to recommend you try them!!! Oh and go to their website, it's got sound effects and everything :)
More Gold for Canada!
As of now there are two MORE gold medals for Canada. One was for Christine Nessbit for the Ladies 1000m in Speed Skating and the other was for Jon Montgomery in Skeleton. Here are their runs:

Snowboarding
I've got to say I'm doing pretty decent for my second time snowboarding! And defineatly not as sore! That's always a plus. I do have some battle wounds though. What I thought was a bruise is really going to turn out as a scar! It's quite a funny story on how it all happened....
Kortney and I were going down the hill or more accurately, the almost flat slope, and I started turning and I couldn't stop. I warned Kortney but she couldn't turn and then BAM! I hit her and I flipped over her and knocked my snowboard on her back. Her snowboard hit my shin and then we both laid there and laughed. Normal people would have been moaning in pain but we laughed. For the rest of the day, me and her were like magnets. All my crashes involved her somehow. Even with all the bang-ups it was a great day! I absolutely LOVE snowboarding! I wish we lived closer to the hill!
I'm proud to say that I can carve! Not great but enough to get me down the hill.....sometimes. ;)
